This guide explains what bundles are, why they're useful, how settings work, and how to create your bundle in deeploi.
🔍 What is a Bundle?
A bundle is a predefined package of apps and access settings. You decide which apps get installed on your employees' devices and which tools they can access. When you assign a bundle to an employee, the pre-approved apps are installed to their devices automatically and create access to the required accounts. Bundles are a central part of onboarding and ensure employees have the right tools available from day one.
💡 Why Use Bundles?
Without bundles, someone would have to manually:
- Install apps on each device
- Set up access to different tools
With bundles, all of this happens automatically as soon as you assign a bundle to an employee. This saves time, reduces errors, and ensures everyone has exactly what they need.
⚙️ Bundles Settings
For each app in a bundle, you can define how it should be handled:
1️⃣ How should employees get this app?
- Auto-install: The app installs automatically on the employee's device after registration.
- Self-Service: The app is not installed automatically but can be downloaded by the employee via the self-service center without admin rights.
💡 When to use each:
- Use Auto-install for must-have tools (Slack or email)
- Use Self-Service for optional or role-specific tools that not everyone needs immediately
2️⃣ Who manages the accounts?
- Managed by deeploi: We automatically create accounts during onboarding and delete/deactivate them during offboarding, if selected in the offboarding form. For us to take over the management, we require an admin account within the software tool. You can find more information here.
- Managed by internal owner: You handle account creation and deletion yourself. Remember to assign an internal owner (a person in your organization with admin access in this tool) who will receive reminders to create or deactivate accounts for upcoming on- and offboardings.
💡 When to use each:
- Use Managed by deeploi for most apps to save time and reduce errors
- Use Managed by internal owner only if you need special control (custom permissions, manual approval workflows or don't want to give admin rights)
🔧 How do I edit Bundles?
Editing bundles allows you to add or remove apps, adjust app installation or account management. To edit a bundle, simply select it, click on the three dots, and choose Edit bundle. When you're finished making changes, click Save.
💡 Tip: You can also duplicate existing bundles if you only want to adjust a few apps or settings without starting from scratch.
🎯 How do I create a Bundle?
Watch this short video about bundles:
🧭 Step 1: Navigate to Bundles
Log in to your deeploi platform and click Bundles in the sidebar. Then click the blue plus sign at the top.
👉 Step 2: Choose your bundle type
1️⃣ First option: Bundle for everyone
Choose this bundle to create a baseline of apps and tools for all employees. It provides an overview of company-wide tools currently in use. Keep the selection limited to essential tools everyone needs. Use this bundle as a quick way to get started.
💡 Smart suggestions: If you already have devices registered on the platform, deeploi will analyze the apps installed on those devices and suggest relevant apps to include in your bundle. This helps you quickly build a bundle that reflects your current software setup.
2️⃣ Second option: Department bundle
Use this bundle to create a selection of apps and tools for a specific department. It provides an overview of software and tools used only by that department.
💡 Smart suggestions: If you already have devices registered on the platform, deeploi will analyze the apps installed on those devices and suggest relevant apps to include in your bundle. This helps you quickly build a bundle that reflects your current software setup.
3️⃣ Third option: Custom bundle
Use this bundle for advanced cases where only specific groups of employees need access to particular tools and software. It's ideal for exceptions based on seniority, location, or project requirements.
Example: Senior developers who need access to production environments, or remote employees who require additional collaboration tools.
⚙️ Step 3: Select apps and configure settings
Now you can select which apps to include. All selected apps will appear on the right side.
👥 Step 4: Assign the bundle to employees
Review your selections and click Save. If you've added all apps to your bundle, click Continue to assign employees. For everyone bundle created for the first time, all employees are already included. For bundles created later, you'll need to assign them to employees manually.
❌ App is not available?
If your required app isn't shown in the selection, use the request button to provide more information about it. Fill out all the information in the form, and we'll reach out once we've reviewed it. Reviewing the app will take some time. You can also find our request form here.
