🗃️ How to add a device to inventory

First things first 🙂

In the case of onboarding, you don’t need to go through the following process and manually assign a device to an upcoming employee. The device will be assigned automatically as soon as the employee completes the registration on their end by running start.deeploi.io once on their new device. The device will then appear in the platform automatically and be assigned to the correct person.

In other words: in most cases, there’s no real need to do anything here ✅

Why you currently can’t add a device manually 🧩

At the moment, deeploi doesn’t support manually adding devices to inventory (apart from in the onboarding form).
That’s intentional: devices are matched via the registration flow (start.deeploi.io), and manual inventory entries would potentially create unreliable duplicates or mismatches later on.

What happens automatically ⚙️

Once the employee:

  1. finishes device setup, and

  2. opens start.deeploi.io once,

deeploi registers the device and assigns it to them automatically. Your newjoiner receives emails that hold the information on what to do - you can also find the guides provided here.

If you still want to prepare the device in advance/add it to inventory 🛠️

If the goal is to have the device ready to hand over:

  1. Go through the device set up (guidance can be found here)

  2. Open start.deeploi.io on the device and register it with your own email address

    • the device will be temporarily assigned to you

  3. Find the device in Inventory  in the deeploi platform using the serial number

  4. Set it to Unassigned by clicking the small “x” next to your name

  5. (optional) Assign the device to the person the device is intended for
