Resetting devices is a key step to ensure they are fully prepared for reuse after an offboarding. This not only helps keep your devices organized, but also saves valuable time during the onboarding of new employees.
To make this process as simple and efficient as possible, our platform provides two different ways to reset devices. Depending on your use case, you can either reset a device directly during the offboarding workflow or at any time from the device overview.
Please note the following limitations:
⚠️ Once confirmed, a reset cannot be undone.
⚠️ Apple Devices: Logging in with personal Apple IDs may prevent the reset from completing successfully. Please ensure the user is logged out beforehand.
⚠️ Windows-Devices: Due to technical limitations on Microsoft’s side, it may happen that a reset on Windows devices fails or the device ends up in Recovery Mode or becomes unusable. We have already observed this issue during our testing, and unfortunately, it is beyond our control (more details here). In such cases, we provided a guide for manual reset. If needed, our IT support team is available to assist you and help complete the reset.
How it works:
🛫 Option 1: During offboarding
- Search for the leaving employee in the deeploi platform.
- Open their details and go to the Devices tab.
- Confirm the return of the employee’s device.
- Turn on the desired device and ensure it has an active internet connection!
- Choose the new option to reset the device!
- Keep the device powered on and online until the reset process is fully completed.
⚙️ Option 2: At any time (e.g. for technical issues or device swaps)
- Search for the device in the Devices tab.
- Open the details and click the menu (three little dots).
- Turn on the desired device and ensure it has an active internet connection!
- Choose the new option to reset the device!
- Keep the device powered on and online until the reset process is fully completed.
The reset command is automatically sent to the device. On Apple devices, the process usually starts almost immediately, while on Windows devices it may take up to an hour.
If the reset has not started after two hours, or you see an error message, please reach out to our IT Support at hello@deeploi.io.
Once the reset is completed, the device will be fully wiped, automatically unassigned in the platform, and ready for reuse – no further action required on your side.
